About Loren

I was absolutely terrified, but my finger had already pressed the button. After a lengthy ring, the door to the big office in Beverly Hills finally swung open.

“Have you scheduled 15 appointments?” a tall woman with a cigarette in her mouth asked me sternly.

“Yes, ma’am!” my voice had regained some semblance of confidence.

“Then come on in…”

The door was finally opened.

Back then, fresh out of Pepperdine University, I was grappling with the question of what I wanted to do with my life. That’s when I landed my first job at Kouzmanoff Financial and the Beverly Hills Group. The week before I arrived at the office, the company owner handed me a phone book.

“These are your leads. I need you to schedule 15 appointments for the week,” he instructed.

Now, I handed him back the planner with all the appointments.

“Whoa, look at you!” he couldn’t conceal his amazement.
“What? Another 15 appointments?!” he exclaimed in surprise, flipping through the pages.

Licensed Insurance Agent

I ended up scheduling a total of 45 appointments, marking the beginning of my journey in the insurance world. As I delved deeper into this industry, I noticed that while many pursued big opportunities like life insurance, only a few dealt with health insurance. “I don’t want to babysit adults and explain tons of information”, one life insurance agent told me. However, my feelings were the opposite – I’ve enjoyed helping people with health insurance and decided to specialize exclusively in it.

That door in the Beverly Hills office, in fact, opened another one, leading me down a new path. In 1986, I founded my own company, “Custom Insurance,” right here in the South Bay, the very place of my birth, where I raised my two daughters, and where I still reside today. Around that time, I acquired a blue Toyota FJ Cruiser with a license plate “Custom 5,” symbolizing my approach: personal and caring. I still have that truck in my garage, a reminder of the journey I began in the late ’80s and continue to this day.

Many years have passed, bringing with them numerous changes and challenges to our country’s healthcare system. However, my mission has remained unchanged: to assist beneficiaries in finding the best plans for their unique circumstances and shielding them from any unexpected twists that the system may throw their way.

My motivation has an extra source of inspiration: my three granddaughters – Callie Rose, and twins Riley and Miley give me a deep sense of purpose to continue doing what I do. My family – Jessica & Zack House, Katelyn & Lance Plonski keep me grounded and encourage me on my business journey.

In 2018, I embarked on a transformative journey that completely changed my life. I had heard much about The Camino De Santiago, one of the major Christian pilgrimage routes in France. Something inside me had resonated with this idea since 1984 – to walk the path of Jesus’s Brother, Saint James – 600 miles by myself. Despite being Jewish, I always felt something was missing. In 2015, I knelt and asked Jesus to be my Savior – that’s how I became a Masonic Jew.

Three years later, I heard my inner voice calling me to walk this path. Having just finished putting my daughters through college, I asked myself: If I feel it, why shouldn’t I follow my intuition? I purchased a plane ticket, a small backpack, and left for France. I’ll never forget this deep feeling – standing at The Camino De Santiago, with the azure Atlantic Ocean on my left and the long road with green grass awaiting my footsteps. I wanted to experience what it was like to be blessed and have God’s presence throughout my journey, and now I’m here, on my own pilgrim path. I was scared to death, completely out of my routine and comfort zone, taking my first steps. But I kept going and made it – 600 miles in 39 days. This journey has given me a new sense of myself and my life.

I’ve also always felt a passion for helping people grow together. In 1986, I started two business networking groups: South Bay Leads Clubs and South Bay Professionals, the latter recently celebrated 20 years. I’m a founder of the Preferred Networking Organization – another networking group for professionals where we bring people together, share ideas, and make connections to take businesses to a new level.

People and nature have always been the sources of my inspiration and true joy. My secret favorite place is Maui – this magical island always fills me with new energy. I love playing Bocce Ball a couple of times per week; it’s so much fun to learn new strategies and simply enjoy the game.

That’s my journey – a life intertwined with passions, which I believe are the main ingredients of both business and personal paths. And I’d be happy to help you on your journey to find the health insurance that fits your life and needs.
